Where does it come from?

Memory foam is a synthetic blend of chemicals also known as "Visco Elastic" foam. This foam is made of 100% chemicals, in a recent study of the chemcials found in memory foam there were 57 known chemicals in an average memory foam mattress that are known cancer causing chemicals. Memory Foam contains isocyanates which are used as a blowing agent in foam. This chemical according to OSHA is classified as a human carcinogen. Other chemicals include formaldehyde, benzene and naphthalene, these chemicals are used in various ways in the manufacturing process of memory foam mattresses, these chemcials are known carcinogens.

Latex mattresses that are certified contain at least 89% rubber latex. Rubber latex comes from the sap of a rubber tree. Rubber can be made in different forms depending on what chemicals are added. In a certified organic latex mattresses the foam is made using soaps such as Potassious Oleate which are added to stabilize the mixture, sulfer and other additives are added to the whipped rubber to add resilience and coagulation. Organic latex is made using as much natural ingredients as possible following the USDA standards. Other latex can be made using chemical polymers which are cheap and easy to produce.

Natural Memory Foam VS Certified Latex

Mobirise

OH, boy dont get me started on this one. Several mattress manufactures are claiming to have "natural memory foam" or a more organic memory foam, using "natural" oils. Last I checked petroleum was a natural form of oil. The truth of the matter is, you can not simply add rubber and oil together to make a memory foam feel. The term used is "slow release latex" which is made by mixing polymers, blowing agents and oils together and most are made with SBR which stands for Styrene Butadiene Rubber. Yes, their claims of using certified latex to mix in with their toxic chemicals to manufacture a slow release latex could be correct, but in the end? Its just toxic memory foam with a great aroma of grapeseed or jasmin extract. There is another way to manipulate the masses by putting an organic cotton cover on top of memory foam then using the GOTS certification. Don't fall for it.

Ceritified organic latex is natural from the Rubber tree. It is manufactured with as natural ingredients such as sulfers, zinc and other agents to allow it to congel. Certified rubber is the liquid and certified latex is the process after the liquid has baked. GOLS certification is my number one go to certification due to the certification process. Each manufacture of mattresses should have their own certification and NOT use the manufacture of latex that they use.  USDA certifications are non-transferable, and if you were to do a google search for GOLS certification online, you too can have a certification in your hands and claim you sell organic certified latex.

Feel the Difference

Mobirise

Memory foam has a slow response feel, which means it forms to your body by the force of gravity, your body weight and your body's heat, the foam cradles to your body.
 > Memory foam you sink into the foam
 > Traps heat and moisture from your body
 > Hard to turn from side to side due to the sinking in
 > Memory foam has about 1000 different variations of feel

Latex has a much different feel than memory foam, latex cradles the body but keeps you on top of the mattress. You do not sink in as much as you do on a memory foam mattress. Dunlop latex feel much denser than talalay. Talalay has a much more plush feel and abosorbs pressure points better.
> Sleep on top of the mattress instead of sinking in
> Has a denser feel than memory foam
> Pin holes during the baking process keep heat from being trapped in.
> Sleeps cooler
